What we do

Four things, priced before we start.

The starts-at price is the real one. Diagnostics are a flat fee, repairs are quoted from a printed book, and replacements come with a written quote you're welcome to show anyone else in the county.

Furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, ductless. Flat diagnostic fee, credited to the repair. Each truck carries about 400 parts, so most jobs finish on the first visit.

What moves the number

Six things decide where in the range your quote lands. We'll point to them on the quote itself.

  1. Size.A 2-ton and a 5-ton condenser are about $2,400 apart before anyone picks up a wrench. We size to the house, not to the old label.
  2. Efficiency tier.Two-stage and variable-speed equipment costs more, runs quieter, and trims the bill 20 to 30 percent. Worth it in a house you plan to keep.
  3. Your ductwork.Leaky or undersized ducts get sealed or resized before new equipment goes on them. New equipment on bad ducts is a slow way to waste money.
  4. Electrical.A heat pump may need a new 240-volt circuit or, in an older house, a panel upgrade. We say so on the quote, not on install day.
  5. Access.A furnace in a walk-out basement is cheaper to swap than one in a crawlspace or an attic with a pull-down ladder.
  6. Rebates.Utility and federal incentives on heat pumps change every year. We track them and file the paperwork; the quote shows the price before and after.

A technician, not an answering service, calls you back inside 15 minutes. We're in your driveway inside two hours, anywhere in the county, at the same rate as a Tuesday afternoon. Miss the two hours and the diagnostic is on us.

While you wait, six things worth checking

  1. The thermostat.Set to Heat (or Cool), with the setpoint past room temperature. If the screen is dim, swap the batteries.
  2. The furnace switch.It looks like a light switch, on or beside the unit. Somebody bumps it every winter.
  3. The breaker.Find the one marked Furnace or AC. If it's tripped, reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and tell us.
  4. The filter.A filter you can't see light through will shut a furnace down on its high limit. Pull it out and try again.
  5. Ice on the AC lines.Turn the system to Off and the fan to On. It needs an hour to thaw before anyone can diagnose it, including us.
  6. If you smell gas.Leave the house. Call the gas utility from outside. Call us second.
